The most iconic hotel in Rio is the Copacabana Palace!

Are you coming to Rio de Janeiro and have never heard of this fantastic hotel? It is fine. People usualy book their accommodation and tours in the city and don’t pay much attention to the hotel.

Once in Rio, doing a city tour or visiting the Christ or the Sugarloaf you will certainly come across to the ‘Copa’. That’s how we from Rio, call the neighborhood and the hotel itself.

The hotel has received in its premisses queens, kings and several movie stars like Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot and Frank Sinatra.

It is among the first buildings located in Copacabana Beach, dated from the early 1920’s.

Rio de Janeiro to host cycling conference in 2018

It will be the first time that the Velo-City conference will be held in South America.

Since 2012, Rio has made a conscious effort regarding sustainable transportation and cycling. This has come in the form of the construction of bicycle lanes and a bicycle sharing scheme that is in place in the city at the moment. These are some of the reasons why the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) has announced that the host city for the Velo-City 2018 event will be Rio de Janeiro.

Rio de Janeiro – a more sustainable city

One of the aims during the conference is to showcase Rio de Janeiro’s leadership in Brazil and South America regarding cycling as part of a strategy for social inclusion and changing the city into a more sustainable and livable city. Other important point is to give a push worldwide to the implementation of strategies to achieve the sustainable development goals.

Itacoatiara. A great place to visit in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro.

Without a doubt we can say that Itacoatiara is the most beautiful beach in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. If you come on holiday to Rio, Itacoatiara is worth visiting. Located only 40 minutes by bus from the ferry terminal it offers great views and amazing photo opportunities!

Once in Rio you should go to the ferry terminal located at Praça XV. It´s a beautiful 20-minute ride across the Guanabara Bay. Once in Niterói you take the bus number 39 towards Itaipu. Or you can catch a cab to make your journey even faster.

São Conrado in Rio de Janeiro.

We have one of the most beautiful coast lines in Rio de Janeiro with some spectacular beaches. Copacabana and Ipanema are without a doubt the most famous ones. But if we carry on driving (or walking) we end up at Leblon and then São Conrado.

São Conrado is famous for its hang gliding. Locals and tourists alike love doing it! They do it form the Pedra da Gávea mountain. Even if you are not brave enough you should pay a visit to the mountains to enjoy the views Rio has to offer.

Would you like to know how´s Copacabana beach during the week? Here you can see a picture (second picture below) taken just a few minutes ago (11.30am) of Copacabana beach on a Tuesday.

It´s January and we have lot´s of people on holidays in Rio, but the beaches have even more people during the weekends, when is almost impossible to find a carpark.
