We have just counted the votes and the samba school Beija Flor is the 2015 Carnival winner!

The parade was over last Sunday and Beija Flor, which is located in Nilópolis ( a suburb in Rio de Janeiro) did a great job at Sambódromo (avenue where the samba schools parade).

Salgueiro has secured the second position only 0.4 points behind Beija Flor.

Now we will all be waiting for the surprises that the schools will come up with for next years’ Carnival.

We had the second and last day of the Rio Carnival parade yesterday. It was again a great show that the samba schools organized.

The O Globo journal is an extra official way of voting and it has selected Imperatriz Leopoldinense as the best samba school among all. We still have to wait for the official result this coming Wednesday but we can say that Imperatriz will be among the top 5 for sure.

The top 5 schools will be seen again at Sambódromo (this big avenue you see above) next Saturday. It is what we call ´the winners only parade´.

It was a pity for many of the participants during the first day of Carnival in Rio yesterday. We have been waiting for this rain for at least a month and finally we´ve got it. And lot´s of it!

The rain starts during the opening of the Sambas Schools parade at Sambódromo ( a huge avenue where the parade takes place).

Samba Schools

The first Samba School at Sambódromo was Viradouro, which is located in Niterói (city across the bay, separeted from Rio de Janeiro by a 14-kilometer bridge). They did very well. Then it was Mangueira´s turn, the most traditional School in Rio. Its colours are green and pink, and it´s always beautiful to watch Mangueira at the Sambódromo. They also did a great job!

Despite the rain Carnival went well on its first day and participants have managed to put up a great show!
